Eat Your Way to Fabulous Skin

Yes, it is true. You can eat your way to gorgeous skin.

Bite by bite you can help or hurt your skin.

You have already heard that eating lots of dark green leafy greens, dark chocolate and so forth can help your insides. However, do you know what eating a few foods can impact both our inside and out?

What we eat can cause acne, increase or decrease inflammation, all of which play a role in the aging appearance of our skin.

One of the best ways to be successful with anything is to have a plan for success. This certainly works with skincare. You must plan to have great skin. it does not just happen for all of us.

What we eat for our insides can be just as important as the serums, toners, and creams we put on our skin. Eating healthy foods, will not only help with the radiance of your skin, but it often helps with weight loss, helps your hair and even can boost your energy levels. The way our schedules are today, we certainly could use some additional energy.

Here are a few things you can consume that can help you fall back in love with your skin:

Olive oil. Studies from 2012 have shown that consuming 2 teaspoons a day was associated with 31% fewer signs of aging compared to people who ate less at only 1 teaspoon. Olive oil is a monounsaturated fatty acid, which gives the body a boost of youth. There are also antioxidants polyphenols in olive oil that help stop free radicals.

Dark Chocolate. You know I would not leave this one out. A sweet treat. It is full of antioxidant properties that help hydrate and even improve circulation. If it is this delicious and helps hydrate my skin, this is one that I will be eating for my skin regularly. You might want to watch how much you eat as the calories can add up quickly.

Sardines/Salmon: These fish are packed with omega-3 fatty acids. Can you say anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is never good for your skin. Inflammation is also known as one of the root causes of acne. No one wants acne ever.  This being said, you can also enjoy Salmon which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids as well. Omega-3 fatty acids are also great for your heart health. So you have a win-win. Taste great, helps protect your skin and your heart.

Green Tea. You may not have the skin of Elastigirl; yet drinking green tea that happens to contain polyphenols will hep your skin become more elastic and smooth. Brew yourself a cup and sip your way to soft skin.

Grass Fed Beef. For those of you that eat meat. You will appreciate this one. Grass fed beef has a higher ratio to omega-3 fatty acids (as we mentioned, reduces inflammation) and it is packed with approximately 30 grams of protein per 3.5 ounce serving. Protein plays a major role in collagen and elastin tissue. These two help keep your skin less wrinkled. Now, because red meat has been associated with high saturated fat content, look for leaner cuts such as sirloin tip, or even the rump roast.

I hope you have found these helpful as you literally get to eat your way to fabulous skin.

Eat your way to great skin. Bite by bite.
